I’ve been implementing this for a while, but didn’t really know what to call it.
Basically, you leverage internal linking and use a hug and spoke architecture to gain relevancy for a particular topic. Sidenote, we always target topics, not keywords.
The pillar or hub page is the page that links out to all spokes/subtopics. Not sure how most people implement them, but a link is a link. I guess you can implement them through either virtual or physical silos.
Word of caution though, some people indicate that you shouldn’t link out to other silos unless they are hubs, since this will dilute relevancy. I really don’t know what to think about that. But I do agree that Hub & Spokes should exist. Not only do they help SEO, but a properly implemented architecture can also be helpful to readers.
Great example of hub & spoke -> https://www.therecoveryvillage.com/mental-health/
From: https://www.contentkingapp.com/blog/hubs-spokes/
does blog structure matter when using hub and spoke? i.e., can a hub page be a core page, and the spoke pages be in the blog? I guess this uses a virtual silo and it doesn’t really matter, as long as links are present.
